Library Renovation Project
The staff and Board of Maplewood Public Library would like to extend our gratitude for the community's support in passing our recent bond issue! While our primary goal is waterproofing, we have numerous projects we will be completing during this time; see below for an overview. We are working with Navigate Building solutions to guide us through the renovation. You can learn more about them here. We have also engaged the team at Trivers to lead project design, and Aspire Construction Services will act as our general contractor.
Planned Projects:
- Waterproofing and repairing water damage
- Upgraded HVAC and security systems
- LED lighting throughout the building
- Expanded Local History room, reconfigured restrooms, and the addition of two study rooms on the lower level
- Improved plaza including benches, landscaping, bike repair station, and replacing stone pavers with smooth concrete
- Cosmetic updates including paint, flooring, and furniture
- New shelving and storage
Note: for the remainder of the renovation, we will have special hours:
Monday-Thursday, 9am-6:30pm
Friday-Saturday, 9am-5pm

In order to get the work done efficiently, safely, and in a way that best utilizes our funds, we will be closing the building to the public and offering curbside services beginning June 10, 2024. This is expected to last through February 2025. During this time, you will still be able to borrow books, and staff will be more than happy to make copies, scan, fax, and print for you. Click here for a full list of services offered.
Don't forget: Maplewood residents can use their Maplewood Public Library card at any of the libraries in the Municipal Library Consortium. Maplewood residents also eligible to get a card from St. Louis Public Library, St. Louis County Library, St. Charles City-County Library, Jefferson County Library, and Scenic Regional Library. You can utilize any of these libraries while our building is closed (and after)!
If you need computer access or computer assistance while our building is inaccessible, we will be on site in City Hall with a laptop you may use. Click here for details.
