Library Services

The Library’s mission is to provide materials for the informational and recreational betterment of the community and to organize them for easy access.

Library staff provides reference service both in person and on the telephone. Library staff will make every reasonable effort to assist any patron in finding needed material or information. Telephone questions will be answered as soon as possible, but those coming into the Library will have first priority.

The Library will initiate programs, exhibits, book lists, etc., to stimulate the use of library materials by people of all ages. The Library will use appropriate technology to further the accomplishment of its mission.

The Library will cooperate with other community agencies and organizations to meet the informational needs of the community.

The Board of Trustees recognizes that no one library can meet all the demands of its community and that libraries working together can more nearly meet the full needs of their users. The Library will borrow for patrons materials which are not owned by the Library. In turn, the Library will lend to other libraries materials which are requested by their patrons. Patrons of the Maplewood Public Library will have priority in the use of our materials.

The Library will participate in cooperative organizations in order to strengthen the services and resources of the Maplewood Public Library.
